POLICE have described yesterday's action against illegal vending in Bridgetown as a success.
Acting public relations officer, Station Sergeant David Welch said people were cooperative and they only met a few challenges relating to the operation, adding that the public's support was overwhelming.
"Pedestrians voiced satisfaction with what was obtained. It resulted in free movement for them, on both the streets and sidewalks," he noted.
The police have also warned that they will be getting tough with drivers who park illegally in The City.
"We have realised that some drivers have been parking their vehicles in alleys and lanes, sometimes causing obstruction. This must stop," Welch said.
He added the police were also asking for the cooperation of all motorists coming into Bridgetown to ensure free flow of traffic.
"We will be moving to sustain these efforts in the future, and will be looking at these actions and monitoring them on a continuous basis," he added. (ES)
