Thompson's turn
Published on: 3/15/07.
TODAY is David's day.
Opposition Leader David Thompson is to give the Democratic Labour Party's (DLP) reply to the Financial and Economic Policy Statement starting at 4 p.m.
With a general election expected before it is constitutionally due next year, all eyes and ears will be on Thompson.
The big question will be whether he will be outlining some of his party's policy positions on various issues today.
This was the strategy adopted in the mid-1980s by then DLP Minister of Finance Dr Richie Haynes who used the opportunities to sell his party's economic and social policies.
Following Arthur's three-hour presentation yesterday, Thompson and his team proceeded to the Opposition's office in Parliament Buildings where they held a session, but he did not reveal any of his plans for today's presentation.
Today's will be Thompson second reply to the "Budget" since he resumed the office of Opposition Leader just over a year ago.
