HUNDREDS OF MOTHERS rounded off their special day on a high last Sunday.
The annual Mum This One's For You Concert which many of them have come to look forward to, was just as thrilling for them as ever.
For just about five hours, the large crowd at The Plantation Garden Theatre, St Lawrence, Christ Church, had lots to laugh, applaud and murmur appreciatively about.
The show, which boasts a 100 per cent Bajan cast, had a little bit of everything in it to satisfy every taste.
The sweet-singing David Hunte opened the show with two selections. He was joined by Rudolph Bandit Waithe of De Opels fame for one selection. Much to the delight of the crowd, Bandit came back to sing the popular Old Man River.
Young Cherish Breedy continues to impress with her voice and Sunday was no different. She did herself proud with good renditions of If We Hold On Together and Can't Give Up Now.
Breedy was evidently so good that she prompted MC Wayne Kool Simmons to say the local ladies of song like Carolyn Leacock, the late Sheryl Hackett, Wendy Alleyne and Alison Hinds would have been proud.
Three people from the disabled community delighted the crowd with their musical gifts. Corey Hunte, who has the ability to sing and speak in the same voice as the person he is covering, accompanied himself on keyboards for What A Wonderful World and Through The Years.
The duo of Elviston and Granville sang Perhaps Love and both played the guitar.
Both Philip 7 and Kimberley Inniss showed the audience other sides of themselves. In addition to his award-winning Beautiful Surprise, which he did for his mother, Philip 7 did a nice version of Let's Get It On.
Inniss stayed away from her popular hits altogether and opted for Unchanged Melody and Simply The Best. The latter was dedicated to her mother Grace Clarke.
Anderson Lynch was also in good voice when he sang A Change Is Going To Come and She's Royal.
A special highlight of the evening was the honouring of 11 parish mothers, two mothers of the differently able, and a loyal son and daughter.
Performances also came from Sister Marshall, Double Laff Theatre Productions, Latin dancers Jamal Dawe and Janine Sealy, Act Now Generation, Desmond Weekes, the Israel Lovell Foundation, Fud Straker and Andy Capp, and Kid Site, who had to sing his new Pigtail by special request.
