IN AN EFFORT to play its part in the promotion of healthy living in Barbados, Cave Shepherd & Co. Ltd has partnered with the Barbados Community Foundation to donate $25 000 to the University of the West Indies, The Barbados Diabetes Foundation and the Chronic Disease Research Centre (CDRC) in the fight against diabetes in Barbados.

Chief executive officer of Cave Sherpherd, John Williams, said the donation to the Wound Healing In Diabetes Study, referred to as the WHY Study, further strengthened the company's commitment to health care in Barbados.

The research is a 24-month, 600 patient case-controlled study which began in March and follows on from previous research conducted by the CDRC in 2003, which has shown an increasing trend in lower limb amputation due to diabetes in Barbadians. (PR)
