Published on: 11/24/2009.

TWO-TIME CHAMPIONS Bayley's are favoured to defeat St Matthew's when they meet at Dover in one of four play-off matches in the Guardian General Herman Griffith Primary School Cricket Competition today.

Bayley's, champions in 1993 and 2006, have the tournament's highest run-scorer in Limar Pierce, who ended the preliminaries with exactly 400 runs, just short of Kraigg Brathwaite's 2003 record of 429 runs.

Apart from Pierce, who is averaging 100 with scores of 94 not out, 22, 16, 88 not out, 69 and 111, Bayley's will be pinning their hopes on Jarian Hoyte, who has 225 runs, including 107 versus St Mark's and 15 wickets.

1986 winners, Ignatius Byer (formerly St Clements), will be in action today against St Luke's Brighton at Friendship.

In the two other matches, West Terrace face Luther Thorne at Bagatelle and Roland Edwards meet St Stephen's at the Desmond Haynes Complex. (EZS)
