THE TOPSY-TURVY TITLE RACE in this year's Barbados Football Association's Women's League, remains tight at the top of the points table.
But the National Sports Council's (NSC) girls are making a strong bid to capture their first title after taking over the lead on Sunday by a solitary point.
The Blenheim-based side pipped 2006 champions Eve Genesis 1-0 in the latest round of matches at the Wayne Daniel Field, Brereton, St Philip, to move to 13 points.
Midfielder Tianna Hackett, who was part of Genesis' championship-winning side three years ago, provided the winning goal for NSC with a 61st-minute penalty conversion.
Referee Clifton Garnes had a fairly busy match, booking the NSC trio of Kamillah Burke, Kimberly Ellis and Bonita Flores and Genesis' Ruth Gill.
The defeat, Genesis' second of the season, left the Holder's Hill, St James-based side in second position on 12 points, two more than two-time defending queens, Carlton Pro-Shottas, who have a game in hand.
In the other match, Technique registered their first victory of the season, defeating the University of the West Indies (UWI) 2-0, compliments goals by Sherece Holder (21st minute) and Shannon Gibson (83rd minute).
Both Holder and UWI's Tonia Jordan were issued with yellow cards by referee Winston Pinder. (EZS)
