GARRISON SECONDARY grabbed the CRS Building & Maintenance Boys' Under-15 Schools Indoor Hockey title yesterday after an exciting 3-2 victory over double-chasing Alleyne School at the Gymnasium of the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.
Garrison's victory course was charted by playmaker Akeem Rudder, who scored twice in the second half, and rock-solid defender Ramario Howell, who had opened the scoring with a clinical penalty corner conversion.
Alleyne's Achim Gilkes scored two late goals to give his team hope, but Garrison held on.
Alleyne did have the satisfaction of taking home a trophy, with two goals from Shamon Prescod carrying the St Andrew school to victory over Alexandra in the Under-13 Boys'.
Springer Memorial "A" took the other title on finals day when they defeated a spirited Alexandra team 2-1 in the Girls' Under-13 showdown.
Springer sprinted to a 2-0 lead through goals from Ayanna Maughn and Gabby Williams before Daraysha Nurse pulled one back for Alexandra to set up a tense finale.
The boys and girls finals in the seniors take place today from 3:30 p.m. (CC)
