Funeral home returns body after two years

Published on: 11/7/2009.

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica - There was pandemonium in Lakemore Meadows near Linstead, St Catherine, this week after a funeral home returned the unclaimed body of a man who was killed close to two years ago.

Reports are that about 1 p.m., a hearse transporting the body of Garth "Blacks" Wilson unceremoniously delivered his corpse to the address that was given at the funeral home at the time of his death.

The drop-off caused a large crowd to converge within the community. That's because residents thought Wilson's body was buried sometime ago in another parish, St Thomas.

Police reports are that Wilson was shot and killed near Old Harbour in St Catherine. It was said that the body was first placed in a funeral home in the parish, but was later transferred to another funeral parlour in St Thomas at the request of a family member.

On Tuesday, residents were amazed, yet confused, when the body was left at the doorway of his mother's house. She was not present and the police were called to the scene. The body was later removed. (The STAR)
