Penises breaking during 'rough sex'

KINGSTON - Representatives of some hospitals revealed that more men have been fracturing their penises in recent months than any other time in Jamaica.
Checks with urologists in some of the country's major hospitals have revealed that the "noticeable increase" in the number of cases where men fracture their members is largely attributed to the men's obsession with daggerin', aka rough sex.
While promising to send data regarding to the increase in the cases at a later date, one urologist from the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) said he had treated, on average, some two cases of penile fracture each month, counting from December 2008.
"We've noticed an increase," the doctor said.
"Almost every other week, since late last year, there is one case for this hospital."
Another surgeon from that facility said the majority of cases that come to the hospital are a result of extremely vigorous sex or, in most recent popular terms, 'daggeration'.
"It's possibly daggerin' people tend to have a predisposition to rough sex," the surgeon said.
"(So) during very rigorous intercourse, the penis slips out and in an attempt to ram it back in, the man hits the woman's pubic bone and pops the penis."
The situation was no different when doctors from the western end of the island were contacted.
One specialist in the field told THE STAR that broken penises had been coming into the Cornwall Regional Hospital more than usual since the start of the year.
"There has been an increase here in the number of cases. Since the year started, I've seen about four. Usually, we would have like three cases quarterly," the specialist said.
The doctors could not confirm if any of the cases regarding the broken penis took place when the men were doing the dance version of daggerin' as opposed to rough intercourse.
In a story published last September, Dr Alverston Bailey, a past president of the Medical Association of Jamaica, warned that men who suffered a penile fracture should immediately seek medical assistance as leaving it unattended might cause the penis to be permanently deformed or they might become impotent.
Bailey continued that when the penis was fractured there was a loud popping sound, followed by excruciating pain and significant swelling, causing the penis to appear deformed. He noted that in some cases, blood might be seen coming from the organ.

Now I won't begin by judging the actions of adults. Simply because as adults they are entitled to do as they like under the strict boundaries of the law. Personally, I see nothing wrong with 'daggering' as it is an adult dance, just as I see nothing wrong with with sex as it is too intended for adults. However, I have to question the mentality of these young gentlemen. 1) How is daggering pleasurable? [bear in mind...daggering isn't sex]. 2)What would possess an you as an individual to go on a ladder and jump off to make contact with female to engage in daggering? 3)How does daggering make you feel? 4)Do you know you can break your penis? I'm sure if we explore these questions and ask those involved in daggering on a personal level..maybe they will desist from daggering. To: Mr Reasonable A man does not need to get a favorable response from a woman to be dagegering. He just does it. A woman does be looking for a "lil wuk up" and the men does act like he is having sex and holding onto the woman giving her little or no space to move. For those of you who do not believe in this possibility, Google "Peyronies Syndrome" which can be caused by any "sport" injury and for which there is no immediate cure. During my youth,I was struck on the penis during an "ice rink" sport and suffered this embarrassing problem. It was only by constant massaging with Vitamin E(after about five years or so) that I was finally rid of the problem.

One does not need any degrees, the information is there for those that wish to learn. Let those that wish to learn, learn. In other words, lets those that have ears, hear. Watch National Geographic or read. I am sure that I heard men describe their ordeals during a documentary on one of these channels. These men were also of different races. The fact that one has degrees does not make one sensible or educated. Education is broad based. Google is readily available, seach for penile fracture. Wikipedia Encylopedia gives one of the main reasons for this occurrence as due to woman on top positions. Of course this may not be true of those cases in Jamaica. I stand by the statement that important facts are still missing in this article.

The persons involved in "daggering" obviously have no concern for the outcome as they are still deeply connected to this type of sexual behaviour. Has anyone questioned whether these injuries are really being caused by the practice known as "Chopping Wood"? It involves slamming one's penis in a car door, repeatedly. I imagine that many of these injuries are actually cause by "choppin" rather than "daggerin", and the individuals are just too embarrassed to admit that they injured their penises so severely by themselves.

I will go out on a limb here (and will be crucified for saying this no doubt)and say that I wish that in abandoning the "daggering music and behavior" that bajans lose the dread locks, lose the loud dub (noise) on EVERY MINIBUS in Barbados, that we lose the rowdyism, that we give up the practice of copying everything that is negative coming from other places. Whether it be the Caribbean or beyond our shores. Why have we lost our identity as a people. I love reggea as much as everyone else (the older reggea with a message, i.e. Marley and the likes). I find todays reggea mostly offensive and ruthless but the youth are quick to gobble it all up along with all the tangential ills thereof. It is quite disheartening for those of us who travel on minibusues occasionally to have to endure the loud music, the overcrowding, why is every driver and conductor dreadlocked. What next.... will it soon be legal to walk down Broad Street with spliff in hand and shout out, Hey Mon!!!! %^(*&^#$%^

When this type of activity receives this amount of publicity it only make other young people become more curious and then "copy cat" effect takes place.
