A 24-YEAR-OLD MAN who thought he could outrun the law learnt the hard way that crime does not pay.
Leslie Livingstone Bostic of Thorpes Cottage, St George, was clocked driving his car along the ABC Highway early on Sunday morning at 141 kilometres per hour, but when the police tried to stop him he atempted to elude them.
This morning the watchman appeared in the District A Traffic Court before Magistrate Christopher Birch where he pleaded guilty to seven offences and was remanded to Dodds until Friday, when he will reappear for sentencing.
In outlining the facts, prosecutor Inspector Martin Jones told the court that in his attempt to escape the long arm of the law, Bostic eventually hit another vehicle, jumped out of the one he was driving, and ran off leaving a passenger.
He eventually fell in the vicinity of the former Barbados Hardware Store at Haggatt Hall, St Michael, sustaining some injuries and having to be taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance.
He admitted that he tried to give the officers the slip; drove faster than the stipulated 80 kilometres; drove without a driver's licence and insurance and without road tax; and, to compound matters, he had a fraudulent number plate.

A serious example needs to be made of his stupidity in aid to show the hundreds of other motorists who engage in such acts the consequences they too will encounter.
send him to Dodd's : 2/10/2010
with all deliberate speed. do not pass Go, do not collect $200 (BBD)

I want to believe that this vehicle has been impounded after all this danger on the road. Thank God nobody was killed by this cold, callous conscienceless coward. Coward? Yes, only a coward runs.
What a stupid act!!! : 2/9/2010
Wait I have some things for this young man to do instead of sending him to Dodds until Friday; I need the fowl-pen clean, my dog has fleas so I need the dog disinfected, the yard needs cleaning and the grass need some cutting. Now I am sure if he was doing any of these things he would never be in the hands of the law. The devil always find work for idle hands to do.

Re: Campaigner for better language : 2/9/2010
Nice try! But you don't get your comments featured in this chat forum if your English Language is flawless and understandable by normal standards. You see, that makes the natives restless. It also makes them "think", and that is not a popular pastime in these here parts.
So if you want your stuff to make it, then construct egregiously bad sentences, use lots of malapropisms, employ no punctuation whatsoever, refer to other contributors with endearing words like; 'idiot','fool','ignorant' and any other derogatory terms you can dredge up. Then you'll make the grade.
And by the way, forget about criticizing the government or any of the 'dear leader's pals'. You'll be totally ignored and the paper police will get some obeah queen to put a spell on you...make your hair drop out or make you suddenly start dribbling or something like that....
Another fool kicks up some dust... : 2/9/2010
...I guess nothing will happen to this idiot. He just doesn't have enough convictions yet. He needs about 197 more to get any notice in the courts. Plus, he's still at the rookie stage-no human road kills yet!
Language ; a disservice : 2/9/2010
Dear Editor, I have noted over time that you refuse to publish any comment, however well written, that is critical to the government or any of its ministers.
Yet, without the slighest hesitation you published the following letter:
Wow Ficitious plates : 2/9/2010
The Cops will have to further ???? this purperator, why was he driving wit a fictious license plate, had he criminal intentions. That car could have been used to commit a crime!!!
Have you no concern for young readers who may be trying to learn to write good English from your pages? Have a heart, Sir. That writer is murdering the language.
Dunce.... : 2/9/2010
Barbados don't have no roads that lead into any other countries so where was he planning to speed off to? The police force could follow him anywhere. He been watching too much TV out of America with all them highway chases.
Hear this one, folks. : 2/9/2010
Mr.Corey Rollins is accused of murder,
he was sent twice for evaluations and
was found competent to stand trial and because he wants to defend himself, the Prosecutor by the name Charles Leacock
is saying that the accused is not fit to
stand trial. If Mr.Leacock is so qualified
to tell the Psychiatrist that he is
wrong,I wonder if at anytime he had ever
ask for the services of a doctor to
prove his point. When an accused wants to
defend himself,that`s his constitutional
rights. What the courts do is provide him
with an attorney to direct him with the
legal matters.Mr.Leacock seems to be
wearing plenty hats.
All this hard work for nothing : 2/9/2010
Follow this case closely. Despite all their (police) hard work to remove nuts like this off the road the justice system will find a way to give the nut a slap on his wrists. ......naughty, naughty boy. You gotta love it in Barbados (referring to the criminals); the only place where you can commit serious crimes and never pay the time for your crimes.

Censorship is not good
Enough said.
driving without insurance : 2/9/2010
To my mind the most serious of the seven charges against this driver is that of driving without insurance. Think of the terrible consequences for owners of damaged property and possible persons killed during his rampage at 141 kph. A compulsory jail term should be imposed, lengthy enough to deter others contemplating this crime.
Too stupid : 2/9/2010
I would like to believe that if this guy had a totally illegal vehicle on the road and was unlicensed the sensible thing to do would be to at least obey the speed limits. This guy is in my opinion a complete idiot and too irresponsible to be allowed to reproduce. That stupid gene pool should end their. This guy is a waste of tax money for education

Speeding Driver : 2/9/2010
This man has nothing to worry about. If Mr 198 convictions still walking bout Barbados, then this is no worry for him.See you in court Feb.2020.
Running from the long arm .Ha! : 2/9/2010
Well well well, you cannot always escape boy.You could have stopped and faced lesser charges and may have been still outside .You fell injured yourself and is no wiser .When will yo uall learn crime does not pay i nthe long run (no pun intended)
Seven And Counting : 2/9/2010
The first part of this problem has been solved. Let us now wait for the verdict. I wonder how many future convictions he will be allowed to chalk up?
Ruff justice? : 2/9/2010
The malcreant will soon be fed, bedded, and watered at Dodd's Hotel, for 3-6 months, free And the ownner of the car he hit- will have to suck salt, and repair his own vehicle. And if anyone had been killed or maimed-for-life, they would face a similar fate. The case outcome, should be "instructive", and of great public interest.
