ROSEAU, Dominica - Former West Indies fast bowler Grayson Shillingford has been recognised by Dominica for his contribution to cricket.
The 63-year-old Shillingford was awarded the island's second highest honour, the Sisserou Award Of Honour, during Dominica's 31st independence celebrations on Tuesday at Windsor Park.
But he was unable to collect the award, since he is gravely ill in Canada.
The award was picked up by former Windward Islands off spinner Thomas Kentish, who was accompanied by Billy Doctrove, a member of the ICC's elite panel of umpires.
Between 1969 and 1973, Shillingford played seven Tests for West Indies against England, New Zealand and India. (CMC)
