Special training for troops

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Puerto Rico's governor says troops have started special training to help police fight crime.
Governor Luis Fortuno says he is certain that "intensive training" this week will prepare the soldiers to go out on patrols soon.
Fortuno toured the National Guard's Camp Santiago in southern Puerto Rico on Sunday, where hundreds of soldiers are training to assist police in high-crime neighborhoods.
He signed an executive order last week activating the guard to lower the soaring homicide rate.
Puerto Rico had its third-worst year for homicides on record in 2009, with more than 890 people slain. Officials say traffickers flooding the island with drug money were making it one of the most violent places under the United States flag. (AP)
