Taxi service with a smile leads to trip down aisle

IT IS THE STUFF that unusual fairy tales are made of.
Man goes to prison, comes out, meets and fall in love with a prison warder.
Last Saturday 25 close friends and family members shared in that special moment when Adrian Vaughan and Shanelle Ellis exchanged wedding vows at the Flower Forest in St Joseph.
Shanelle told the DAILY NATION that although she had seen Adrian during his incarceration, she had "no conversation with him". The two only started talking on his release, she added.
Vaughan had been imprisoned for six years in 2002 on gun and ammunition charges.
"[Yesterday] is two years since we've known each other. We met on Broad Street [The City] when I was looking for a taxi to get to work. He (a taxi driver) told me he would take me there and come back for me [which he did]," Shanelle said.
She described the 90-minute ceremony and brunch as "short and very nice", adding it was over quickly. She and her husband then left for their hotel.

Is it some genetic flaw we bajans have that force us under any and every circumstance to find fault with or cry down persons for no apparent reason? Is it a lack of intelligence, maturity or a combination of both. I am sometimes so embarrassed of so many of you that I often find myself going in the opposite direction when I encounter you at functions, in business places or anywhere for that matter. Congratulations to both of them he made a mistake went to prison payed for what he did. Unlike others he made sure to better himself so as not to re-affend. I wish them both luck for the future. Just ignore some of the idiotic/selfish/judgemental comments that were made

I don't know either of these people, however, I wish them the best of everything, may they have happiness and love for each other always. For those of you making negative comments regarding the relationship/marriage, get over yourselves, you sound like you may be envious and lonely, however, with that nasty minded attitude its really no wonder.

This man is so happy with where life has taken him that he had to let the whole world know it,some people will not let others know they are going to get married but broadcast when they are having a divorce.The human race is very intresting.I am very happy for him because i see god brought something good out of evil and took the foolish things of the world and confound them to the wise.Forget your past bro ,nuff respect.

However, in spite of those remarks, this couple had the love, support and understanding of each other to get married. Bajans need to mind their own business and take down their own dirty curtains and see their own dirty glass windows. Do your own house cleaning before you try someone else's home. The story is about the odds of something like this ever happening. Congrats to them. At least they had the courage to go public knowing full well how narrow-minded and judgemental some of their compatriots could be. What we should worry about is the nasty people who knowingly walk around spreading HIV as well as continuing to have children even though they are well aware of their status. They are not going public with their "human interest" stories or facing the cameras so that we could see who they are, that should scare us more. A marraige between two persons should be blessed.The general Barbadian populace are full of sleight of hands.As a prison officer Ms Ellis has proven beyond all tests that she does her job and one which is well done. She deserves her moment in time.Adrian has a chance to make a difference.This too is his moment.There is a process of life after prison. As I recall it is also the bride's wish that something more in the rehabilitative process be added to the current one.She is young and has a good vision for herself and her country.Respect due! I can't believe that a stupid person is talking about her dress. Well if you wanted her to have on a better dress then you should have bought her one. Maybe you do not even have one as good as her you idiots over there. I am so glad that I have move to the USA and learnt what is life from living back there among you idiots. You know what is wrong with Bajans, they like to mind people's business too much insted of their's. Some of the best men today are in prison. Dogs do not go to prison. They need to come to america. Just last week in miami a comissoner went to jail for stealing and she is a commissioner. come on you guys the rich goes to jail and so does the poor. Look at Bernie Madoff who swindle lots of people out of millions of money and even policemen go to jail for shooting and other stuff. You guy need to leave Barbados and go out and learn life. Every one need a second chance and my God in a Father of first, second and many chances and we have to give peoples chances and learn to forgive. I bet you that that same guy might make her more happier than another guy who did not go to prison. I pray that Gog would open up the windows of heaven and bind them together with cords that cannot be broken. I guess some of you all want him and just jealous. Barbados people need to see men in america goes to jail and prison and when they get out they still get any woman that they want. Prison is like a hotel for them that they went to spend a vacation at. I am happy for the couple although I do not know them in person. Look, lets be honest, while we wish them the best, to him, he may have paid his dues, but after all she makes a good paycheck, and for her she don't look like no spring chicken, and time maybe running out so therefore she says "before none, any". just take a good look at her, he has a prize there when it comes to added funds, she on the other hand he will take her to work and wherever she wants to go. She has no waistline in this dress and the arms, I doubt he can get his hands around her, so she has to be happy with her find.

Why are you guys being so judgemental. I happened to have met Adrian and used his taxi service when I lived in Barbados. He was very nice and I always felt comfortable in his taxi as I was a female travelling alone. I did not know he had just got out of prison but reading this just warms my heart even more that there is hope in the reforming people and that is all that matters.

The man served his time and owes you or society nothing...........Fact #3.After two years the man has proven his love and commitment to his new bride...........Fact #4.The man has a damm job, he was driving taxi at the time she met him again.................Fact #5. He kept his word and returned for her as promised........Fact #6.It's none of your God damm business!.........Fact #7. You should go to prison and maybe learn to write a complete sentence.

"Warder and inmate" poster stop judging I happen to know Adrian is a really good guy everyone makes mistakes. Possession of ammunition charges cannot be compared to murder, rape or any of the other heinous crimes, still everyone deserves a second chance.

If I were a Prison Officer, I would think, twice, maybe thrice about this relationship, but I am not. Let us not be judgemental, judgement is not for us. Plus he has paid his dues. Sometimes a straight strong woman can help to reform a bad man. Time will tell if this relationship was made in heaven.

This is a good story. Stop being so judgemental and hope for the best for the couple. If you would take the time to read the story properly, then you would see that he was already out of prison and working as a taxi driver when he met her on Broad Street. Whether true or not that is their story, so just be happy for them.

some thing sound fishy there. This is very rare and i believe mr nurse should keep a keen eye on his female officer especailly those who recently join . they are powerful men in prison and very persuasive ones too. this relationship look and sound strange to me . how you know a man was in prison and you still allow he to take you work and return for you paying or paying not the other officers would tell you it morally wrong
