Enterprising half-centuries by Kirk Gibson (68) and Lendl Simmons (58) yesterday ensured defending champions TeleBarbados Carlton clinched a berth in the quarter-finals of the Sagicor General Twenty20 competition. The Black Rock side remained unbeaten with their second win in as many matches when they hammered Inspire Sports Wanderers by 70 runs at the Desmond Haynes Oval.  Set a challenging 181 for victory, Wanderers were limited to 110 for six from their 20 overs.  Nick Evans topscored with an unbeaten 32, including two fours and one six. He and Diego Stuart, who made 19, added 33 for the sixth-wicket, the highest of the innings. Earlier, after they were put in to bat Carlton amassed 180 for four off their allotted 20 overs. Trinidad & Tobago and out of favour West Indies all-rounder Simmons, in his local debut match, linked up with Gibson for an electrifying second-wicket stand of 93 in 8.5 overs to set the platform. Simmons was eventually caught on the cover boundary in the tenth over. His knock was punctuated with seven fours and three sixes off 34 deliveries.
– ELVIS HOWARD At Weymouth: A fluent half century from Roston Chase and a four-wicket haul by left arm pacer Ravindra Persaud, lifted Guardian General Barbados Youth to an imposing 43 run four-wicket victory over Police.Police limped to 124 for seven in reply to Barbados Youth’s 167 for six.Persaud (four for 29) put on an impressive display with the new ball removing the first four batsmen as Police struggled to 40 for four.  When Marquis Clarke (two for 27) replaced him, the right arm medium pacer picked up the wicket of Larry Babb with his first delivery.
– PHILLIP HACKETTAT BANKS:  A telling allround performance by Ezra O’Neale, in addition to a disciplined unbeaten 63 from veteran opening batsman, enabled CGI Maple to register a comfortable victory over Banks in their Sagicor Twenty-Twenty clash.  After Banks had won the toss and batted, they were undermined by the medium pace bowling of  O’Neale, as he sliced through the batting to finish with 5-16 from three overs. He was well supported by all-rounder Rayad Emrit, with 3-9, as the Banks batsmen struggled against the Maple attack. Only opener Koffi Hurdle, who topscored with 41 from 41 deliveries, along with Sherwin Campbell (35), and Martin Nurse (22), showed any real resistance. Set 130 runs for victory, Maple slipped to 42-3, before O’Neale joined opener Agard, and in an unbroken fourth-wicket partnership, put on 88. Agard struck five fours and two sixes in facing 58 deliveries, whilst the big hitting O’Neale struck five massive sixes as he faced only 31 deliveries.
– LOUIS HOLDERAT FOURSQUARE OVAL: An incisive spell of left-arm seam bowling from Adiko Collymore engineered a batting collapse from the UWI as they were skiddled out for a paltry 53 off 14.1. Operating from the northern end Collymore grabbed the first five wickets for a meagre 12 runs from his quota of four overs. At one stage he had the UWI reeling on 16 for five. Ryan Layne chipped in with 3/3 off just seven deliveries to send the UWI crashing to the disappointing score and to lose by 56 runs.
– EVANS HINKSON AT BECKLES ROAD: ICBL Empire separated themselves from the rest of the field when they defeated joint leaders Caribbean Lumber YMPC by seven wickets to take sole leadership of Zone A.The hosts spurned ideal batting conditions after winning the toss and elected to bat, only to be restricted to a measly 93-9 from their alloted overs. The visitors in their turn stuttered slightly after an enterprising opening stand from opening bats Jason Haynes and Jason Hinds, before running out easy winners off the first delivery of the fourteenth over.Haynes rattled up 35 at better than a run a ball while Hinds completed a worthy all-round showing, contributing 23 out of a partnership worth 67 from 9.5 overs after leading the bowling (3-19) when YMPC batted.
– WAYNE HOLDER.AT WILDEY: Captain Courtney Browne’s quickfire 72 off 45 balls proved too much for newly promoted Dover, as Lime amassed a  commanding 193 for five en route to an easy win. Dover struggled in their reply and at the end of their alloted overs were only 102 for seven. The Christ Church side was under pressure from early, with Bates smashing 38 with six fours and one six, and Browne having his way with eight fours and a six. Jamar Phillips was the best bowler for Dover with four wickets for 26 runs.
– ANCILLE INNISS AT QUEEN’S PARK: Chad Proverbs led the way with 38 and Patrick Browne scored 23, as BNB St Catherine, chasing 116 for victory, reached their target with one ball remaining in the low-scoring affair.Earlier, Stefan Gooding had taken three wickets for five runs from 2.4 overs, while Kenroy Williams, Joel Leacock, and Derick Bishop collected two wickets apiece, as Spartan were dismissed for 115 in 19.4 overs.Reydon Toppin hit the top score of 32 for Spartan, after Wayne Blackman got 26 and Andre Small with 24 shared 49 for the second wicket in the best stand of the match.
