BUSINESSMAN Sir Charles Williams has thrown his support behind the hosting of the upcoming 54th Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships.
Apes Hill Club, a venture with which Sir Charles is associated, offered members of the Barbados Golf Association an opportunity to play at the recently completed course with all green fees donated to the association to help defray the costs of staging the regional tournament that starts today and runs until July 4.
Because Saturday was quickly booked solid, Apes Hill Club also provided bookings for the previous Friday and the following Sunday.
President of the Barbados Golf Association Birchmore Griffith said the offer from Apes Hill Club was magnanimous and would contribute to a successful staging of the event.
Nine teams and countries, including Barbados, will be represented at the championships – which are being hosted by Barbados for the first time in ten years. (HH)
