DEAR CHRISTINE: Why can’t daughter be happy for me?

Dear Christine,My daughter stopped speaking to me and she has also moved out of my house, because I won’t stop seeing my young partner.I try so hard to explain to her how happy and in love I am, but she called me an old fool. She even put a man to call my phone one day to tell me that my partner is his girlfriend, but then he told me what she was up to. Christine, I am 55 years old, my partner is 37 and my daughter is 39. Believe me when I tell you that I am very happy. She has made me happier than any other partner I have ever had and I am glad that she has moved in with me. This has been the best two years of my life. My friends and other family members can all see how happy I am and they are all happy for me.When I am at work my partner calls or texts me to tell me nice things. Every lunchtime she picks me up from my workplace and takes me home and gives me a healthy meal; she’s no a fan of eating too much fast food, so she takes care of my diet. Christine, she hugs and kisses me in public, walks holding my hand – which none of my other partners did. In fact, they would always walk a little ahead of me. We take trips together. She doesn’t let me pay the bills alone, it’s always half and half with her. A few months ago, I fell ill and my daughter wasn’t ever there to give me a glass of water, but my partner took time off from work to take care of me. When I cry, she cries too; and when I smile, she smiles too.Christine, I love her and I know that she loves me. But I just wish that my daughter would see how happy I am and be happy for me. Thank you, Christine.– HAPPY DADDear Happy Dad,It seems that you are very much in love and your daughter just can’t understand this fact. But your happiness and that of your partner are more important. If this is the best relationship of your life, work to keep it together.Your daughter is a mature woman, hopefully, she will come around when she realises that this relationship is a lasting one.– CHRISTINE
