KAREN MEAKINS has added to her ever-growing collection of silverware. The 37-year-old Meakins claimed her 11th Barbados Open Squash Championship when she disposed of reigning Caribbean Under-19 champ Cheri-Ann Parris in straight games, 11-7, 11-4, 12-10, at the Barbados Squash Club in Marine Gardens over the weekend. In a repeat of last month’s Barbados National Championship final, Meakins dominated the match from the first point before overcoming a game-point in the third game to win yet another championship. On that occasion Parris was able to take a rare game against Meakins who has been dominant on the island for the last decade.  Men’s top seed Shawn Simpson had an even easier time of it in his final, as Bryant Cumberbatch had to default the final due to religious commitments. In the men’s “B” event, top-ranked Stuart Tippleston survived a stiff challenge of Cliff Nolan, taking a close first game before tightening his grasp on the match to win in straight games, 11-9, 11-6, 11-5.
