Company gives sheets to aged

MANULIFE FINANCIAL (Barbados) has donated sheets to the Geriatric Hospital and management of the hospital says this gesture is a triumph for private/public sector partnerships.Hospital acting manager Joanell Oxley-Worrell thanked Manulife for remembering the hospital and said the donation would help to improve its quality of health care.The donation took place Friday at Manulife’s Collymore Rock, St Michael office.Chief executive officer Claudio Macch said: “We just wanted to do more charity work, so we had every staff member propose an organisation to which we could contribute. And we took a vote, resulting in the Geriatric Hospital receiving the majority vote.”Vice-president and chief financial officer Ashok Merai said too often, a community tended to forget its elderly had needs which had to be met, and that a small gestures could mean a lot.He added he hoped other companies would take Manulife’s example and follow suit.Macchi said Manulife would be taking another vote next year.
