DERBY – Out-of-favour West Indies left-arm seamer Pedro Collins and Leeward Islands batsman Chesney Hughes suffered contrasting fates on the third day of their County Championship encounter yesterday. On a day when 21 wickets fell for 288 runs, Collins snatched four for 46 for Middlesex to give them the upper hand over Derbyshire at the County Ground at Nottingham Road.Resuming the day on 228 for three after the second day on Thursday was washed out, Middlesex were dismissed for 263 with Scott Newman adding just seven to his overnight 119, as the visitors’ last seven wickets tumbled for 35 runs.Collins, who has not played for West Indies in four years, then destroyed Derbyshire’s middle order and along with former England off-spinner Shaun Udal (4-37) sent the hosts crashing to 182 all out.The 34-year-old Collins started his damage when he bowled Hughes without scoring at 38 for two before picking up the next two wickets to fall.At the close, Middlesex were struggling on 71 for four, an overall lead of 152 for four.
