Encourage tourists to stay longer and spend more
THE TOURISM AUTHORITIES are mentioning and trying to deal with tourists’ safety, security and other attractions.
But even though more tourists are coming, unparalleled to the same period last year, they are spending less money, according to tourism officials.
So now in this recession the problem is not the amount of tourists, or lack of, but the amount of spending.
So the emphasis should move from safety, security and attractions to encouraging them to spend more and to stay longer.
We have to find ways to make them, while here, eat more, travel around and visit more places, buy more souvenirs and stay longer.
So innovation has to really kick in to make things cheaper, while being even more attractive.
