GOLF WEEK 2010 celebrations teed off on Wednesday with open day at the Barbados Golf Club (BGC), Durants, Christ Church, where health service organisations provided free health checks for all interested persons.
Residents of communities surrounding the club at Durants, Christ Church, got expert health advice from golf-playing doctors, as well as representatives of the Barbados Cancer Society, the Diabetes Association and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Golf Week coincides with activities marking the tenth anniversary of the upgraded BGC, the island’s only public golf course, and culminates tomorrow with night golf and a big party at the club house.
During the Banks Kick Start tournament last weekend, Jeff DeCaires, Chris DeCaires, Gerry DeCaires and Charles Cox emerged winners of the four-ball scramble competition, with a combined score of 55.1.
Second were Ricky Skeete, Zerena Belgrave, Jeff Belgrave and Amian Wilfred. Third were Peter Fox, David Callaghan, Charles Heath and Glen Smith.
The week of activities ends tomorrow. (CH)
