6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 – Senator Irene Sandiford Garner wants to see more Barbadians, especially women taking care of their health.
The permanent secretary in the Ministry of Health  wants people to become more familiar with their bodies and get annual check ups, This she says will allow abnormal changes in their bodies to  be detected at an early stage.
She was talking earlier today at Cave Shepherd as part of a cancer awareness promotion.
“I am hearing a lot of women saying that they do not go to get annual medical checkups. This is my third year doing this promotion and I make time to do it because I think that it is important that we endorse these types of activities,” she says.
Minister of Labour Esther Byer-Suckoo, author Eric Jerome Dickey and Senator Sandiford-Garner at Cave Shepherd this morning.
