Thirty-one-year-old, Anderson Ashby, who worked as a private freighter was shot dead in Belfield, Black Rock, St Michael, late Friday night around 11:45 p.m.
His father, Ansil Ashby says he is keeping strong for his wife, Margo Ashby, who was taking their son’s death hard.
“I’m holding up pretty good. I study my Bible and I am trying as hard as I can [because] I want to be strong for my wife.
Ansil says the last time he saw his son alive, he [Anderson] was going to buy food for his [Anderson’s] five dogs.
“I went to work and I only found out this morning (Saturday) when someone told me I was needed at home. I thought it would be a simple matter until my wife told me our son had got into a fight and was killed,” he says.
Ansil described his son as kind, quiet, helpful and a lover of animals and of sport.
The police’s public relations officer, Inspector David Welch, reports: “From the information we received, Ashby was involved in an altercation with some person or persons. He was shot and died on the scene.”
Police are asking anyone with information about it to contact them at 1-800-TIPS or 429-8787. Investigations are continuing.
