Lodge pound Ellerslie

The Lodge School sent Ellerslie crashing to their second successive defeat with a 48-8 hammering in the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Netball Under-19 Competition on Tuesday evening.
Lodge held Ellerslie scoreless in the first quarter, then gave up only one goal in each of the next two quarters. Rieah Holder led the Lodge attack with 25 goals from 30 attempts and Tamar Piggott was just as effective with 23 from 29.
Shanice Hinds scored six goals for Ellerslie and Shadia Clarke two.
In a highly anticipated Zone 2 clash, Garrison defeated St Lucy 25-20 to go to the top of the tables.
Both teams had 31 attempts, but the Garrison shooters were more accurate. Shannon Hackett was the toast of the four-prong Garrison attack with 11 goals from 12 attempts, while Markayla Yearwood scored 15 from 22 for St Lucy.
Both Alleyne and Queen’s College bounced back from defeat. Alleyne got the 29-13 victory over St George, while Queen’s College hammer Princess Margaret 26-8. The scores were a bit more respectable in the other games where Deighton Griffith beat The Lester Vaughan School 22-16 and Combermere drew 18-18 with Foundation. (SAT)
