Carlton, Genesis on track
The Barbados Football Association’s women’s league train moved to Speighstown on Sunday without anyone slowing down the pace of defending champions, 8000 Inc. Carlton and former queens Eve Genesis.
Carlton showed the form of past seasons as they drowned Barbados Women Football Association 6-0, with current golden boot holder Aaliyah Alleyne and former top scorer Kycia Knight blasting hat-tricks. Knight scored in the 8th, 33rd and 35th minutes while Alleyne contributed in the 23rd, 59th and the 74th minutes.
On course
Genesis remained on course for another showdown with Carlton by taking out the University of the West Indies 3-1. Aronda Morris scored in the 19th, with Shanice Stevonson in the 56th and Shontelle Clarke in the 76th carrying Genesis to a 3-0 record. Renesha Jones pulled one back in the 38th minute for UWI.
The opening match saw the National Sports Council moving to 2-1 with a 2-0 defeat over Technique. Tonya Brown scored in the 20th and Adriene Forde added the second in the 40th.
The train will be moving on to Bridgefield next Sunday. (KB)
