KINGSTON – Barbados defeated hosts Jamaica by 58 runs in their WICB Regional One-Day cricket semifinal at Sabina Park here today to reach the Sunday’s final when they will play against the Leeward Islands.
Jamaica, chasing 250 for victory after Barbados’ score of 247-9 was readjusted to 249-9, were dismissed for 191 in 44.1 overs.
Jonathan Carter, who was awarded two more runs for a six, struck off Chris Gayle, which had been given as four, top-scored for Barbados with of 59.
In Jamaica’s innings, Brendan Nash top-scored with 52 while Barbados’ captain Ryan Hinds took four wickets for 19 runs.
Scores: Barbados 249-9 in 50 overs – Jonathan Carter (59, 3×4, 3×6, 57 balls), Dwayne Smith (55, 3×4, 3×6, 50 balls), Kirk Edwards (34); André Russell 10-0-45-6. Jamaica 191 in 44.1 overs (Brendan Nash 52, David Bernard 28, Xavier Marshall 20,  Chris Gayle 16, Danza Hyatt 14; Ryan Hinds 9.1-2-19-4, Javon Searles 8-0-51-3.
