One of region’s brightest sons gone
ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Baldwin Spencer has expressed profound sadness following the passing of Prime Minister of Barbados David Thompson. In a statement to the Government and people of Barbados, Prime Minister Spencer said that Barbados and the region has lost one of its brightest sons who was committed to the advancement of the people of the Caribbean. “Since his election into office, Prime Minister Thompson has worked tirelessly towards the advancement of the people of Barbados,” Spencer said.
“His life’s work has always been to champion the cause of the working class people and he will remain on Barbados’ roll of honour for his sterling contributions. Mr. Thompson also exhibited a strong commitment to Caribbean cohesion during his tenure. He will be greatly missed.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda, I express deepest condolences to Mrs. Thompson, their children and members of the Thompson family and the people of Barbados. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” concluded Prime Minister Spencer’s statement. (CMC)
