Bishop goes on a roll
LEFT-ARM spinner Derick Bishop took five wickets for 21 and Joel Leacock three for 23 to give BNB St Catherine a massive first innings lead of 193 after rolling ESA Field Pickwick for a modest 107 yesterday.
The visitors asked to follow on , ended the day at 25 for one after St. Catherine compiled 300 on the first day in the LIME Division 1 tenth round match.
Bishop made his impact felt from very early when he replaced pacer Marlon Franklyn after two overs.
It did not take him long to capture the wicket of George Harris, after struggling on a slow pitch.
That wicket was the only one for some time due to the nature of the pitch
The batsmen showed patience, especially Clint St. Hill, who topscored with 47 in a lengthy innings
Capatin Kenroy Williams came into the attack and captured Rondell Yearwood’s wicket when he was leg before.
Although the proceedings were slow, Williams wrung the changes in the bowling, seeking to find the solution of dismissing the opposition, until he returned to Bishop from one end and Leacock with his medium pace from the other.
Leacock bowled a very controlled and full length that allowed him to york both Jared Gilkes and Rascelle Gittens and later the defiant St. Hill was caught at square leg.
Bishop, who showed persistence in flighting of some deliveries, had the prolific Kyle Hope caught at mid-wicket by Leacock with the score on 66 for three.
In his first over after the tea interval, he bowled Corey Yearwood by knocking back his off stump and then had Ryan Layne leg before.
Bishop celebrated with the capture of his fifth victim when Ryan Arthur was bowled .
