Today, the students of St Mary’s Primary School celebrated Independence with a number of activities for their open day at the school.
Staff and students welcomed parents and guests to view the displays and exhibitions mounted.
The school’s reading teacher Shelly-Ann Devonish said: “We chose the theme Exploring the World through Reading. We are trying to use every means available to expose them to the world through books and other materials. I must say that their response to literacy week has been tremendous. They are having discussions about aspects they would find in the books such as people, places, animal and things,” explained Devonish.
Science teacher, Beverley Moore said the students were also fond of science projects.
“The students are eager when it comes to science projects; they brought all of the raw materials for us to produce projects,” said Moore. (AH)
