A man who escaped from lawful custody was shot yesterday evening by police in The Ivy, St Michael.
David Lynch, 18, was shot around 5:30 p.m.
Police public relations officer Inspector David Welch said the shooting occurred while police were carrying out investigations in the area of Skeete’s Road, The Ivy, St Michael.
“He was spotted on Blenheim playing field and he ran and was pursued by police. He ran into an enclosed backyard” said Welch.
He said the man attacked police with a weapon and was shot once in his upper left side.
Lynch was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by police where he is still being treated.
The police public relations officer told NATIONNews that Lynch was wanted for questioning for several serious criminal matters and for escaping lawful custody from the Government Industry School (Dodds).
