Early walker latest fatality

A mother of two is Barbados’ latest road fatality.
Dead is 38-year-old Mavis Ward who was involved in a collision with a car while taking an early morning walk along Kirtons Main Road, St Philip.
The housekeeper at the Crane Hotel, who used to take regular morning walks, had stopped for a while and only started back walking last Wednesday.
Family members are still trying to come to grips with the loss.
Inspector David Welch, public relations officer with the Royal Barbados Police Force, said the Force received a call after 5:20 a.m. alerting them to the incident.Welch said the incident occurred along Kirtons Main Road and the pedestrian Mavis Ward died on the spot.
