The all clear at the Grantley Adams International Airport was given at 5:55 this evening, after a suspected gas leak disrupted operations there.
Corporate Communications Specialist at the airport Keith Goddard said the all clear was given for the reopening of the departure area, the most affected by the fumes, one hour after the arrivals area was cleared.
There are reports that at least a dozen people were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, but Goddard could not confirm this.
Staff and passengers at the airport were affected by the suspected natural gas leak. Goddard reported that the situation this afternoon did not require a full evacuation of the airport and did not impact on scheduled flights.
Investigations are continuing, he said, adding the Fire Service has deemed it safe for employees to return to work. (CM)
