Quenching thirst for clean water
Erma Corbin and her family are now drinking purified water, thanks to Glacial Ice Barbados Ltd.
For more than a year, Corbin, who resides at Bakers Development, St Peter, has had dirty brown water flowing through her faucets. The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) notified her that the mains needed changing but did not say when this would happen.
Last month, after this newspaper highlighted her situation, Glacial Ice came to her rescue. Last Monday, Andrew Zephirin, a consultant with the company, delivered five gallons of water to the family as well as a cooler.
Zephirin told the SATURDAY SUN that the company would supply the family with water until the BWA got around to changing the mains.
He explained that the company sourced water from the BWA and put it through a process of purification which met the required international standards.
He said the water was filtered, put through a reverse osmosis process and infused with minerals.
Corbin, who has been collecting water from relatives and friends, expressed disappointment that the BWA had not come to her family’s assistance, not even to send out a water tank. She thanked Glacial Ice for its kindness.
