After playing unbeaten in round robin action, Barbados must win this morning to ensure promotion to Group II?of the Americas Davis Cup Tennis Competition.
Barbados beat The Bahamas 2-1 on Friday evening to finish at the top of Group III, Section B, and joined Guatemala, Costa Rica and Bolivia in the promotion group.
Yesterday, they blanked Costa Rica 3-0.
Haydn Lewis beat Pablo Nuñez 6-0, 6-2 and Darian King took care of Ignaci Roca 6-3, 6-2. King and Lewis wrapped up the tie with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Roca and Martin Echandi.
The second set was close throughout and it remained tied on games up to 5-5. Barbados won, then one break of serve secured the match.
On Friday evening, Lewis beat Bahamian Devin Mullins 6-3, 7-6 (5) and King rolled over Marvin Rolle 6-2, 6-1, but once again, the pair of Seanon Williams and Anthony Marshall went down 6-3, 6-4 to Jamal Adderley and Timothy Neilly.
At 11 a.m. today, Barbados will play Guatemala.
Trinidad and Tobago and Panama have been promoted to Group III. (SAT)
