“NOTHING that is worth doing comes without effort.”
Graduates of the Half Moon Fort Primary School were given these sound words of advice as they prepare to travel onto a new stage in their academic lives.
At the school’s graduation ceremony held recently at the Almond Beach resort in St Peter, under the theme Go Confidently In The Direction Of Your Dreams, guest speaker Reverend Lennox Boyce urged the students to go after their dreams no matter what.
“Dreams give you something to aim for and something to work towards, but as you dream, dream of greatness, be the best and aim for excellence,” he told them.
He however cautioned them to be wary of dream stealers who came in the form of friends, bad habits and mediocrity, and also encouraged them to give of their best no matter the cost.
“Always give of your best when nobody else is doing it. When nobody sees, when nobody praises and when nobody helps,” he added.
Principal Judy Sobers in her address admonished parents to be good role models for their children.
“Spend quality time with your children, take them to church. Our children need good spiritual values. Encourage your children to be caring, courteous, kind, obedient, respectful and to choose friends wisely,” she advised.
She urged the students to always remember their school motto as they go into their secondary school lives.
“Beyond the moon to the stars. Be a star, be the best of whatever you are, be safe, be timely, be accountable and be respectful,” she told them. (DB)
