600 000 visitors target
The Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) is expecting an almost 600 000-visitor injection into the island by yearend, as it engages hundreds of travel agents from around the world.
Over 300 travel agents from Canada, Britain, continental Europe, the United States, Brazil and other Latin American countries came together recently in Barbados for a few days as a part of MegaFam, a package of activities, to familiarize them with the island’s tourism fare.
During yesterday’s cultural seminar at the Concorde Experience in Christ Church, BTA president David Rice said the authority had a target of just over 574 000 visitors to Barbados by the end of 2011.
So far, they have reported a 7.2 per cent increase in tourist arrivals for the first quarter of this year over last year. (MM)
