He likes unique
Andre Brathwaite: I am a geologist and a petroleum and reservoir engineer. I consider myself to be a naturalist and am very much in touch with Mother Earth. I love climbing, rollerblading and anything that gets my adrenalin flowing. I love farming since I find that to be my calming area. I have lived on every continent and hence I love to see and learn about all cultures. I understand that the one only thing in life we have to do is die, therefore I try not to only exist – I like to live.
How would you define your personal style?
Unique and casually decent.
Do you find that you follow fashion trends or do you play by your own rules?
I tend to do a mixture of both.
Has your fashion sense changed over the years or has it remained the same?
I have had my own fashion sense since I was about 11 years old.
Are there any colours that you tend to shy away from and if so, why?
I usually shy away from pink but that is mainly because of a brainwashed social stigma.
As a child, were you always into clothes or did you grow into your own fashion sense?
I have always made my own fashion decisions.
How does your day-to-day life factor into your wardrobe choices?
As a geologist, I always have to be prepared to get dirty; as an executive, I always have to be prepared to attend high-level meetings – at the same time, I like to feel and look good. Therefore my day-to-day life dictates that I dress “rough and ready”.
Are there any designers you like to wear or whose clothing stands out with you?
Not particularly, but I like Aldo and Steve Madden shoes.
If you could choose one colour that should be in every wardrobe, what would it be and why?
I can’t choose one colour. I think that every colour should be available because I believe that your daily mood determines what colour you want to use.
Where do you like to shop?
My taste runs to overseas stores.
