Forde concerned about bad ads
ADVERTISING messages are of concern to National Council On Substance Abuse (NCSA) general manager Yolande Forde.
Speaking yesterday during an awards and educational counselling ceremony by the St Michael South Constituency Council for students who recently took the Common Entrance Examination, Forde told parents and students that “television, radio, computers and music” were sending messages that could only lead to bad decisions.
Disturbed by a particular ad that states “endless fun equals endless drinks”, Forde hammered home to her audience that “decisions always have consequences”.
“That ad says to me that for the rest of your life you need to have alcohol there to have fun . . . because it says to me this is how to relax and have a good time. (CT)
