Face HIV facts

Barbados’ laws relating to homosexuals, sex workers, and transgender people are in need of review.  
With 7 000 people globally being infected with HIV every day, former Deputy Prime Minister Dame Billie Miller says “we do have to very seriously now review this old legislation”.
The retired politician, a former Minister of Health, said Barbados needed to look for “more sensitive” replacement laws that took the protection of people’s human rights into consideration.
Dame Billie joined present and former parliamentarians for the launch of a project, Parliamentarians Leading On HIV?Prevention, Stigma And Discrimination, at Accra Beach Hotel earlier this week, intended to give political leadership in the drive to eliminate stigma and discrimination against people infected with HIV/AIDS.
