BARBADIANS SEIZED THE OPPORTUNITY to discuss troublesome issues relating to their billing by the Barbados Light & Power Company (BL&P) yesterday when the Fair Trading Commission (FTC) set up a special desk in Dacostas Mall for the day.
From early in the morning concerned consumers flowed in, most of them armed with their electricity bills, while a few others with matters regarding consumer protection also sought advice.
The five-member FTC?team included Consumer Protection head Judy Maynard, financial analyst Susanna Corbin, director of Fair Competition, DeCourcey Eversley, and chief economist Antonio Thompson.
The FTC’s director of Utilities Regulation, Sandra Sealy, told the SATURDAY SUN about 30 people had come through by the 2 p.m. close of the exercise and in the process she had identified a few misbillings but did not get a lot of complaints.
Full story in today’s SATURDAY SUN.
