When it comes to badminton, Shari Watson is Barbados’ household name.
Much hasn’t changed in this year’s International Open of the CAREBACO championships, currently being played at the indoor gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.
Watson has remained the country’s most consistent badminton player, and today, she should be playing in the quarter-finals of the singles competition, barring a monumental upset.
The island’s top-ranked player was set to go past yet another lower ranked opponent, No. 4 seed Tameisha Williams, last night, and continue her ride to a possible chance at another gold medal, after another solid day’s performance yesterday.
Here, Watson completing an overhead smash en route to her quarter-final place.
