The Parliamentary Joint Select Committee that is considering the Prevention of Corruption Bill, 2010 is seeking the views and comments of the general public.
The news came as head of the Private Sector Association John Williams recently called for a redraft of the bill and for the matter to be put back on the front burner.
The bill is now available for public scrutiny at the Parliament Buildings, the Government Printing Department, post offices across the island and all public libraries. It is also accessible online at www.barbadosparliament.com, where people may also make their comments on the Barbados Parliament blog.
In addition, copies of the bill are available on weekdays at the Rices Resource Centre, Rices, St Philip; Ellerton Community Centre, Ellerton, St George; the Welfare Gall Hill Office, St John; the Speightstown Resource Centre, St Peter; the Welfare Office, Belleplaine, St Andrew; Weston Resource Centre, Weston, St James the St Elizabeth Resource Centre, St Joseph. It is also available at the Deacons Resource Centre, Parkinson Community Centre and Grazettes Resource Centre, all in St Michael.
In addition, individuals, professional organisations, community-based groups, official and unofficial bodies with special interest, and anyone who may assist with the committee’s work are invited to submit memoranda or other documents setting out their views and comments on the issues.
People who have tendered written submissions should indicate whether they want to appear in person before the committee to give oral presentations. Those who only want to make an oral presentation should also inform the Committee.
Barbadians should submit their views, and memoranda to the Clerk of Parliament, Parliament Buildings, Heroes Square, Bridgetown and those who wish to appear before the Committee to make oral presentations should give this indication to the Clerk of Parliament. (GE/PR)
