Slump slows tax returns
Nearly?50 000 Barbadians are still to receive their income tax returns.
That’s because the global economic downturn has had an effect on the pace at which Barbadians will collect their income tax returns from the Inland Revenue Department.
So far just 32 000 of the 81 000 who filed income tax this year have collected cheques.
A highly-placed source in the department, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the Press, told the WEEKEND?NATION the prevailing economic climate was affecting the flow of funds from the Treasury.
