IT?IS?OVER?to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to decide the fate of two Barbadian cricketers who have been chosen to represent their country but would rather play for another team.
The Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) wants Jonathan Carter and Carlos Brathwaite to wear national colours on the cricket pitch in this month’s Super50 competition in Guyana and it isn’t budging from that stance. Both players have written to the BCA outlining their preference to play for the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) but their request has been turned down.
The WICB is set to discuss the matter, which has generated much national discussion over the past two weeks, at an October 14 to 16 special meeting in St Lucia.
The BCA held an emergency meeting on Tuesday night and upheld its choice of the pair to wear ultramarine and gold. (BA)
