A draft code of discipline for schools is before Cabinet and should soon be made law.
Deputy Chief Education Officer (for schools) Joy Gittens said the goal would be to have a level of understanding regarding punishment throughout all the schools in Barbados.
“It should be used, therefore, by schools so that they would be able to be all on the same page regarding  punishment for the different infractions you find in the school setting,” she said.
Gittens spoke to the WEEKEND NATION during a break in the Association of Public Primary School Principals annual general conference yesterday at Accra Beach Hotel, Rockley, Christ Church.
