AC Milan Junior Football camp next week
One hundred boys – and one girl, almost inevitably nicknamed “Soccer Smurfette” – will spend next week’s mid-term school break being instructed by coaches from Italian football club AC Milan at an official AC Milan Junior Football training camp.
Three boys will fly over from Trinidad to join their Barbadian counterparts at the five-day camp, which will be held at Kensington Oval from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, starting on Monday.
The camp, organised by Pro-Shottas Soccer School, is the first AC Milan Junior Football training scheme ever held in the English-speaking Caribbean.
AC Milan visited and inspected the Kensington Oval camp site in July to ensure it measured up to AC Milan Junior standards, which included the compulsory provision of meals to participants.
The 101 young players were selected either from Pro-Shottas’ own successful age-group teams or after taking part in trials held in August.
All players must attend a preliminary meeting tomorrow at either St Gabriel’s School playing field at 9 a.m. or at Queen’s College playing field at 10:30 a.m.
Players are required to collect their official AC Milan Junior gear at Kensington Oval between midday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Players will be allowed to enter the camp only if wearing the official kit.
Ten local coaches, all from Pro-Shottas Soccer School, will also receive training directly from AC Milan Junior coaches. (PR)
