Multi-skilled way for small firms
Minister of Industry and Small Business Denis Kellman says it is even more critical for workers to be multi-skilled in the current economic climate.
He made this assertion at the 36th annual graduation ceremony of the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP)?at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on Saturday night.
“One of the lessons learnt from this recession, especially by small businesses, is that workers need to be multi-skilled. Workers should be trained in several tasks so as to provide the organisation with the flexibility it needs to move forward.”
The minister said that small business owners often needed training in managerial skills and, given their size, it might be necessary for them to have employees who were multi-skilled.
