SOME?OPERATORS?of private child care centres are blatantly defying the law by not registering their business with the Child Care Board.
Chairman Maureen Graham said yesterday that, most of the time, they became aware of these unregistered operators only when something happened to a child and the parent “ran” to them to complain.
“And when we discover that the business is not registered, then they start blaming Government,” Graham said.
While she was not in a position to say how many were operating without registration certificates, she said that 89 private day care centres were registered to operate this year.
The list was published last Sunday by this newspaper and Graham urged parents to use those day nurseries.
“That is why we have published the list. There are quite a few operating without being registered.
