A Barbadian who went to Brooklyn a few days ago from his home in Connecticut to attend a wake is now being mourned after he lost his life in a motor vehicle accident a few days ago.
David John Williams, 63, a hotel employee in Stamford, an upscale community, was struck and killed by a car while crossing a busy street in the East Flatbush section of the city’s most populous borough.
The dead man’s niece Afshan Williams described her uncle as “caring” and “very family oriented” and explained that he was in the city for a friend’s wake.
The accident victim was crossing Utica Avenue, a largely West Indian area near Snyder Avenue, when he and another man were struck by a vehicle.
While the Bajan was killed, the other unidentified man suffered a broken leg, was hospitalized, and is expected to recover.
The driver of the vehicle, who was also hospitalized, has not been charged.
Williams went to the United States from Barbados as a child. (TB)
