Franklyn: State facts on Lodge

A union representative is calling on The Lodge School to state the facts after the school denied knowing the dates of a case which went against it last December.
The case, won by a former teacher who sued the school after being overlooked for a permanent position two years ago, ended in a default judgment when the principal and board of management failed to turn up for several hearings.
Union leader Caswell Franklyn yesterday expressed dismay when Lodge principal Trevor Pilgrim told the MIDWEEK NATION he was never notified about the dates for hearings, and as far as he was aware, “the board of management of the Lodge School, similarly, never received any notification relating to the dates set for this matter”.
An upset Franklyn said: “They were present when the judge adjourned this case at the first hearing on September 21, last year, and they did not put up a defence then. In fact, up to now they haven’t put up a defence.”
